1st Quarter Goals
Kindergarten
During the 1st quarter kindergarten will be focusing on what a
steady beat is and how to find and keep a steady beat. They will also use and
identify the difference between singing, speaking, whisper and shout voices.
1st Grade
During the 1st quarter, students will focus on performing a steady beat.
Identify and perform the difference between fast and slow music, and music that is
high or low.
2nd Grade
During 1st quarter students will focus on demonstrating loud and soft
dynamics (p/f). They will also recognize basic forms of music such as
question/answer, call/response, repeated patterns, and AB.
3rd Grade
During 1st quarter students will focus on demonstrating and identifying
dynamics, piano/forte, crescendo/decrescendo, and diminuendo. They will also
differentiate between ensemble groups/solo.
4th Grade
During the 1st quarter students will focus on performing and learning
about a variety of patriotic songs. They will also be working on matching pitch in
an extended range.
5th Grade
During 1st quarter students will focus on recognizing and reading all
basics notes/rests and adding in syncopated rhythms. We will also be working on
staccato and legato and how you perform these notations.
